Support for Learning

Our Support for Learning teacher, Education Auxilliaries and Classroom Assistants work with any child in school who needs extra support.  This might be for a short time or ongoing for a number of years.  It may be with aspects of learning such as reading, spelling or maths or it could be to help a child understand and modify their behaviour.

We use a number of well recognised programmes, sometimes with individual children, who are taken out of class for a short period several times a week; sometimes it is with a small group or it can be within the classroom.

Your child may be given homework from Support for learning. This will usually be reading and/or spelling. It might be using Toe by Toe or learning words from a word wall or flashcards. Sometimes there will be a worksheet instead of reading from a book – this will require your child to read words they have been learning from their reading book.
